Santarchy Letdown #2
Another year, another missed opportunity for Santarchy. Why is it we always forget about it until it's too late to actually go to one? We suck at life when it comes to drunken, middle finger-wielding Santa Clauses. Luckily, Boing Boing picked up our slack this year.
Check out their Santarchy videos, part 1 and part 2. And merry f'ing Christmas!

Days of Wine and Apples
Calling all Boston boozers - we've discovered an interesting opportunity to get a bit blotto on wine all while keeping your conscience clean. No, we're not talking about juicing on sacramental wine...in fact our thoughts were entirely secular. A friend of ours let us know about an event where you can be bussed out into the woods, given a wine tasting, and then go apple picking, all to benefit charity.
As long as we're kept away from the ladders after a couple glasses of wine, we can't see a down side at all. Learn how you can hit an apple festival, stock up at the Nashoba Valley Winery, and benefit the On Your Feet Project all at the same time at their Wine and Apples page. The event itself is on September 30; just make sure you buy your tickets by September 26...though it may sell out earlier than that.

2nd Annual Great Boston Beer Marathon
We've been on a few bar crawls in our time, and we have to say they can be damned fun if they're executed correctly. We just found out about the Great Boston Beer Marathon, which starts in the Fenway area and makes its way to the Allston/Brighton area, and it sounds like they're doing it right. If you're in the Boston area on June 23 and have some free time between noon and 2AM, we recommend you check out this event we can only assume will become a full-on tradition.
Just think - if you play your cards right you could end up just like the people who run that other Boston marathon - delerious and exhausted, with bloody nipples.
Go to the Beer Marathon site for more information; signup is availalble through June 18.

VodkaFest (with Gin) Roundup - June '07

We hit the June VodkaFest this Sunday down in Manhattan, and it was great to hobnob (is that a word?) with some of the elite of independent spirits distributors. We had some drinks, had some laughs, but overall had to take it easy because after the event we had to drive four hours home. We were still able to taste just about everything that was on display, however - and we hope we didn't gross anyone out too much when we sipped and then spit it right back into the cup.
We've rounded up info on everyone we interacted with, along with some quick notes on the folks we haven't done full reviews on yet. Read on for our thoughts on each brand and our tastes of each, in more-or-less chronological order.
Also - we didn't run into any of the VodkaFest contest winners, probably because we skinned out a bit early, but we'd love to hear from you if you made it. You know who you are.
