Liquor Snob Holiday Shopping Guide 2010

drunk_father_xmas.jpgYes, we know Halloween is just barely past our rear bumper, and Thanksgiving has yet to come. But it's never too early to start thinking about what you're going to get the nice (and naughty) people in your life this holiday season. Or, if you're like us, just start making your own Xmas wishlist and fantasizing about what you'll see under the tree this year.

Also, after the jump you'll find everything we could think of that's gift-related we covered in 2010, plus some additional ideas we've seen around the Interwebs. Don't say we never got you anything!

If we had to say we were excited about anything in particular, it's got to be books. Yes, we're nerds, but this year we found some 10 powerful portable primers packed with principles pertaining to potent potables.

Our 10 Spirits & Cocktail books of the year:

  • Gifts are in the Details
We received a nice roundup of tips for hosting a party, including food, accessories, and of course, drinks. From Blenheim Ginger Ale to The Bitter Truth Bitters, these could double as gift ideas in a pinch as well. [via Details]

  • Peppermint Mocha? Yes, Please
Here's a nice little snippet about Peppermint Mocha Kahlua - not a flavor we'd have thought of, but it does sound like a nice way to spike your hot chocolate and a sweet gift for the liqueur enthusiast in your life.
This winter, enjoy the essence of the season in a whole new way: introducing KahlĂșa Peppermint Mocha ($17.99), a delectable mix of 100% Arabica Coffee beans, cool peppermint and decadent dark chocolate.

  • Johhnie Will Make Them Jump
The folks at Johnnie Walker sent along some gift suggestions, along with the appropriate giftees - we have to say, if you're dropping sixty bucks on a bottle of Green Label for a dude who sits near you at work, but you don't hang out much...we'd like to be on your Xmas list. If you're really feeling frisky, drop a few hundred on this 1.75 of Blue Label and just think of the Karma.
    • For your younger brother...Johnnie Walker Red Label ($23, 750 ml) says, "I've spent my whole life imparting my wisdom upon you, so it's time to promote your drink of choice. Happy Holidays."

    • For your best friend...Johnnie Walker Black Label ($34,750 ml) says, "You're the best friend a guy could have and I can always depend on you. Happy Holidays."

    • For your buddy at work...Johnnie Walker Green Label ($60, 750 ml) says, "We should probably hang out a bit more outside of the office, because you've really become a great friend. Happy Holidays."

    • For your favorite wingman...Johnnie Walker Gold Label ($85, 750 ml) says, "I wanted to tell you what a champion wingman you've been over the past few years. I trust that you will always keep the party going. Happy Holidays."

    • For your father-in-law-to-be...Johnnie Walker Blue Label ($220, 750 ml) says, "I'm about to marry your daughter. I swear I'll always give her my best. And here's the best for you. Happy Holidays."
