Drink & Draw Social Club Vol. 1

We have a confession to make. We're sure you picture us as suave Carey Grant types with a cigarette holder in one hand, a bottle of liquor in the other, dictating our stories to the lovely assistant sitting on our knee. (We actually tried to set that up, but we got tired of being slapped by potential assistants.) In actuality, we're much more down to earth, and if you must know, we're great big comic books geeks...errr, fans.

This week we found a book that brings together our two greatest passions, boozing and comics, in Drink And Draw Volume 1- read more about it after the jump.

The DRINK AND DRAW SOCIAL CLUB, VOL. 1 contains the scribblings and scratchings of a large group of artists done strictly at pubs and taverns across the country. The pints and pencil shavings make for some "good times" as they do their best to "keep it real"! Check them out at http://www.myspace.com/drinkanddraw - What started out as just DAVE JOHNSON, DAN PANOSIAN and JEFF JOHNSON has spread to over 1600 members with splinter groups popping up everywhere. Just recently they were filmed as part of the upcoming MySpace film documentary.

We really like the idea of a bunch of accomplished comic book artists getting together, getting trashed, and drawing. That's what it's all about, really. And you should know this isn't a comic book, it's comic art, a bunch of independent sketches with some pretty hilarious commentary by its creators. Definitely worth checking out, and you can pick up Drink And Draw Volume 1at Amazon for a lot cheaper than we did, or support your local comic book store and ask for it there.
