Growl for Bulldog Gin

Bulldog GinWe just got word that there's going to be a new gin prowling the streets soon, and it goes by the name of Bulldog. According to the press release it's a London Dry with some crazy botanicals in there including Poppy and Dragon Eye (not sure what they are either). Between the exotic ingredients and the cool-looking bottle, we're definitely down to give it a try - hell, we'd try it even if they told us every bottle contained real bulldog fur.

Right now, we don't have much more to go on than a bottle shot (pictured), a website that won't be up for another two weeks (check back November 15) and a statement that it's available at Astor Wines in NYC.

Check out the press release after the jump for more information.

BULLDOG Gin: Finally, a Sexy Gin that tastes good too!

For Immediate Release - October 2006: The Gin category has just gotten a heavy dose of sex appeal directly from London with the entry of BULLDOG Ultra-Premium Gin. BULLDOG carries an exotic melange of botanicals, including Poppy and Dragon Eye, giving it incredibly seductive fruit and citrus notes. BULLDOG was founded by Anshuman Vohra, a former JP Morgan Investment Banker and David Kanbar, an industry veteran from Skyy Vodka and the owner of Bambu Ultra-Premium White Rum, who with his expertise in developing spirits brands, was enlisted to help make the vision a reality. BULLDOG was engendered out of Mr. Vohra’s quest to create the ultimate Dirty Gin Martini and G & T (his favorite cocktails). In fact, the botanicals in BULLDOG were selected specifically out of this relentless pursuit.

Handcrafted in the UK and quadruple distilled, BULLDOG is a London Dry Distilled Gin, infused with the taste and aromas of its selected botanicals, using traditional copper pot stills. As part of the process, the gin is passed through a condenser and liquefied to produce the natural and unmistakable essence of this ultra-premium spirit. This well-made gin, born from over two centuries of experience, exhibits a smooth and harmonious texture, with a distinctive flavor and refreshingly crisp character.

While BULLDOG stands tall on taste alone, it is also sold in a beautiful bottle that is sure to improve the landscape of any bar or store, with its smoked-gray tinting and broad-shoulders, and the distinctive spiked collar around its neck. Launching auspiciously in 2006, the Chinese Year of the Dog, BULLDOG Gin stands to be one of the proudest, sexiest new additions to the spirits market.

Says the Indian-born Mr. Vohra: “Being Indian, Gin is practically in my blood. I have always loved Dirty Martinis and G & T’s. Fortunate to have lived all over the world, I developed a palate for exotic flavors and so I wanted to make a gin that satisfied this desire for the unusual, but, of course, it had to improve upon my favorite cocktails. I’m pleased to say that I succeeded - BULLDOG truly makes the best “Dirty DogsTM” (Dirty Martinis) and BULLDOG Tonics I have ever had!” Says Mr. Kanbar, “I love gin, and I only drink it in a dirty martini. I can tell you unequivocally, The Dirty DogTM is the best of breed.” Mr. Vohra can now be seen at bars, restaurants, nightclubs and liquor stores telling anyone who will listen about the new Top Dog in the gin category.

Specialty BULLDOG cocktails were designed by internationally renowned mixologist, Christian Gutkowski, of Bungalow 8 fame. The Dirty BULLDOG and The Brindle (BULLDOG , elder flower cordial, leaves of sage, simple syrup and crème de cassis) are two of Vohra’s favorites. Cocktail menus and images are available upon request.
